They Might Be Giants — “We Live In A Dump” (Demo)
Unlike much of my Giants collection, this track was actually self-discovered; four years ago, during the summer, I called into the now-defunct TMBG Dial-A-Song using Skype, and recorded this song.
Unbeknownst to me at the time, it would be the last song ever played on the service before its death.
Anyway. Enjoy.
Oh wow, nostalgia. I started listening to TMBG in the summer of 2005, after Dial-A-Song had been down for a while. I remember all the excitement at the wiki when a ‘friend of the band’ directed them to a Record-A-Call on ebay. It took so long for me to get through the first time, but I did and it was beautiful, and I think I put the phone on speaker and recorded the audio with my video camera. I called back maybe one or two other times before it died, once while it was in the process of dying. It sounded so pitiful ahahaha. And then my sister taped over my recording with her singing or lip syncing or something to Build Me Up Buttercup.
